Luca Soppelsa is Head of Financial and ESG Risk Management at FS Impact Finance (FSIF) and Managing Director of FS Financial Services Caucasus, a subsidiary specializing in financial and ESG monitoring and reporting services.
Luca played a central role in FSIF’s decision to become a member of the SPTF in 2023 and has been a driving force behind the company’s efforts on client protection and social and environmental performance management since well before the membership. He has led initiatives to embed industry best practices into FSIF’s due diligence, monitoring, and reporting processes. His efforts have contributed to FSIF’s continued commitment to CP and SEPM, including becoming a signatory of the Client Protection Pathway in 2022.
Luca and his colleagues actively contribute to SPTF’s work by regularly participating in the SIWG meetings and several sub-groups, such as the SFDR PAI reporting discussions, EU Commission consultations, Outside-in ESG Risks, and Climate Risk Due Diligence.
Luca aims to leverage his experience in impact investing, financial inclusion, and most particularly his expertise in risk management to further support SPTF’s
mission of promoting high standards and best practices in social and environmental performance management and reporting within the financial services sector. He is also committed to supporting SPTF in expanding its member base by encouraging broader industry collaboration. Additionally, Luca seeks to contribute to the continuous improvement of SPTF’s tools and resources, ensuring they remain practical and effective for users. By bringing in diverse perspectives from both investees and investors, he aims to foster an inclusive dialogue and enhance the alignment of SPTF’s initiatives with the needs of all stakeholders in the
ecosystem.
Before joining FSIF, Luca gained a decade of experience in international, multi-stakeholder projects in the sustainable energy, banking, and audit sectors, with a focus on emerging and developing markets since 2013. He holds a Master’s Degree in International Economics and Business (Globalization and Development) from Utrecht University and a Master’s Degree in Management from the University of Trento.
