Rula Mheissen

Client Protection Specialist and Head of Outreach to the Middle East and North Africa

Rula Mheissen has more than 20 years of experience in training, strategic planning, social performance management and client protection, with a focus on the responsible inclusive finance industry. She has an extensive background in social performance management audit, client protection assessment, impact assessment, and research and data analysis, and has worked with financial service providers throughout the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to reengineer their policies, processes, and activities around the Universal Standards and client protection standards.

A bilingual subject matter expert, Rula has contributed to the Arabic translation of several key Cerise+SPTF materials and trainings, including the third edition of the Universal Standards for Social Environmental Performance Management. She has also managed and led projects on financial literacy in Jordan and the MENA region, resulting in published material and tools.

Rula established and currently manages the Customer Service, Market Research and Social Performance Department in Vitas Jordan, a financial service provider whose microinsurance product she designed and manages. She is also responsible for supporting the strategic direction of Vitas group especially regarding social performance management, customer centricity, and gender.

Rula received her bachelor’s degree in economics and political science, and holds certificates in financial inclusion policy and microinsurance. She is based in Amman, Jordan.
