Pakistan Microfinance Network

Syed Mohsin Ahmed is the CEO of the Pakistan Microfinance Network (PMN). He has been working in the microfinance industry for more than two decades promoting access to finance and microfinance in Pakistan, developing national strategies for the growth of both microfinance and microinsurance, and creating win-win synergies between different stakeholders – including as an active member in international client protection initiatives.

Under his leadership, PMN has developed a diversified revenue model to secure its growth and long-term viability and also established alliances between PMN’s members and players across the financial inclusion ecosystem that include policy makers, regulators, and national apex.

In addition to his work at PMN, Mr. Ahmed holds several others leadership roles. He sits on the various committees tasked with the implementation of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy and represents the microfinance industry in the Agriculture Credit Advisory Committee and Agriculture Credit Committee of SBP. He is the Honorary CEO of the South Asia Micro-entrepreneurs Network. He runs a fintech start-up that provides a shared platform for loan management and interoperability for the microfinance institutions that are members of PMN. He sits on the board of a credit bureau that is providing services to the larger financial industry in Pakistan. And he is involved in setting up a climate risk fund, a center for the capacity-building of mid-level managers of MFPs, and a cutting-edge digital payment platform to boost the digitization of the microfinance industry in Pakistan.

Mr. Ahmed is a qualified Management Accountant. He has taken executive courses on leadership from the Harvard Business School and the London School of Economics, a Financial Risk Management course by the Citi Foundation and Women World Banking, and a diploma course on Microfinance at the Microfinance Training Program in Boulder, Colorado.
