Who Is on the Pathway

The Client Protection Pathway is the global home for all stakeholders committed to ensuring that financial products and services avoid harming clients. These global stakeholders fall into three categories: committed institutions (financial service providers); third-party validated institutions (financial service providers); and signatories to the Joint Statement.
Committed institutions
Committed institutions are financial service providers who have signed the commitment statement, which says:

“Our organization has reviewed the Client Protection Standards, and we commit to using them to improve our practices over time.”

In addition to making a public declaration of commitment to client protection, each of these organization has listed in their profile their completed client protection assessments and/or certifications. These are available upon request via the contact information listed in the organization’s profile in the online Excel.

Third-party validations

After undergoing an assessment of their client protection practices (which is Step 2: Improve on the Client Protection Pathway), financial service providers often seek a third-party validation of their progress and achievements.

More about certified institutions

A client protection (CP) certification is an independent and objective evaluation of the extent to which a financial service provider is implementing the policies and operational practices considered necessary to protect its clients from harm.

The Client protection certification framework is based on the Client Protection Standards. Within this framework, organizations can achieve one of three levels of certification: gold, silver, or bronze. Certifications are valid for three years.

Financial service provider attains a BRONZE level by passing 100% of all entry indicators and ≥65% of total indicators

Financial service provider attains a SILVER level by passing 100% of all entry & progress level indicators and ≥ 80% of total indicators

Financial service provider attains a GOLD level by passing 100% of all entry, progress & advanced level indicators and ≥95% of total indicators
